Tavey is the daughter of Fredrick Whitebear & Lorna Porter-Sheridan. She is the granddaughter of Winona Caramony, Donald Porter, Rozella Robinson, and Linda Sheridan. Tavey comes from the Thatada Clan (Left of the Hóⁿga). She is 17 years old but will be turning 18 on January 7th. Tavey’s a Capricorn which means that she tends to keep small circles, but is loyal and supportive of her friends and loved ones. Not to mention that she is ambitious, organized, practical, and goal-oriented! Like most of her classmates she was born at St. Luke’s hospital in Sioux City, IA. During High-school she has participated in cheer, basketball, volleyball, and the J-Squad. Tavey’s most memorable moment was when she went to state basketball with Winnebago. Who could forget their upset of #1 Malcolm in the District Final? Tavey’s favorite class is ‘Reading,’ with Mrs. Hermelbracht. When asked ‘why?’ Tavey told the J-Squad, “Don’t ask questions that you don’t want to hear the answers to.” Dis girl be cryptic! Her favorite sports team to watch/cheer for is the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Tavey was more than angry when they lost in the title game last year. In fact, she still isn’t over it. When asked, “Would you be the person inside the UNC mascot?” She replied, “H*lls yeah! Who wouldn’t!” Mmmmm, possibly a Duke fan? Tavey added that if she were in the UNC outfit she would pummel the Duke mascot during a timeout if the opportunity presented itself. Her favorite hobbies include learning the Umóⁿhoⁿ Language, spending time with family, and traveling
to different powwows to dance. Tavey’s favorite type of dance is Traditional. She would also like to spend time cruising around in her dream ride: a 2021 jeep
cherokee with a stout V-6 and a torquey turbocharged four-cylinder. When it comes to entertainment, Tavey likes the movie Monsters Inc.
because that was her GoTo childhood film. One of her favorite TV shows is Jane the Virgin. She likes this show because it makes her laugh and it keeps her interested. She highly recommends that Vogt and Fehringer start watching it! If Hollywood made a movie about Tavey’s life, she would have her sister Savannah play the lead part because, ‘She’s the sickest, rezziest, urban Indian ever!’Tavey stands somewhere between 5’1” and 5’2” - depending on the kicks that she has on during measurement. But her size doesn’t stop her from doing anything she puts her mind to. In fact, we hear that Tavey has some serious hops. We call her Air-Tavey here at the J-Squad. The individual Tavey admires the most is her older sister, Savannah Sheridan.
“She’s the person I work so hard for. She always pushed me to be better, and to not give up. Sav always has good advice, and keeps me humble.” Tavey is looking forward to graduation but she is still undecided as to what she wants to do in the future. However, Tavey does have advice for the underclassmen, and it goes something like this: “Learn who you are, and where you come from. Learn the Umóⁿhoⁿ Language before it’s no longer here. Stay on top of your grades, pay attention, and listen. And always respect your elders.” That’s some solid advice, says J-Squad. Finally, the ultimate question was posed to Tavey. Is a hotdog a sandwich? Tavey’s Response: ‘Ummm, No. Because it has no cheese. That’s just facts.’
