When it comes to listening to music we all have one thing in common - We enjoy jamming to our favorite sounds. Here we will critique a few artists that you might want to get to know - or that you might NOT be interested in at all. Either way we will give you our honest opinion! Let’s begin with Elizabeth Woolridge Grant - Also known as Lana Del Rey! (By I.S.)

Lana was born on June 21, 1985, in Manhattan, New York City. Raised in upstate New York, Del Rey moved to New York City in 2005 to pursue a music career. In 2008, she released a three-track EP, “Kill Kill”. Del Rey's breakthrough came in 2011 with the viral success of her single "Video Games". She achieved commercial success with her second album, Born to Die (2012), which contained the sleeper hit

"Summertime Sadness". Del Rey collaborated with Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus on "Don't Call Me Angel" for the action comedy Charlie's Angels (2019), which peaked at number 13 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Del Rey collaborated with Taylor Swift on "Snow on the Beach" which peaked at number four on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lana’s highest-charting song. Her 9th studio album is set to come out in 2023. As a singer-songwriter Del Rey’s net worth is approximately $30 million. On a scale of 1-10, (10 being the highest) I.S. and J-Squad rate Lana a solid 9!

Our next artist is D'Kyla Paige Woolen by (H.P.) known professionally as Kaash Paige. ‘KAASH’ stands for (Kill All Arrogance Stop Hatred) - Kaash was born on January 8, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. She started writing in high school and uploading tracks to SoundCloud, where she quickly gained a local following. By early 2019, Paige had attracted attention from several record labels, and eventually landed a deal. The single "Love Songs" spent six weeks at the top of Spotify's global viral chart. In 2019, she released her debut EP, “Parked Car Convos”

The remix of the song, "Love Songs" was released in January 2020 featuring 6lack.


In March 2020, she appeared on the track "Euphoria" with Don Toliver and Travis Scott. Her debut album, “Teenage Fever”, was released on August 14, 2020. As of now, her net worth comes to about $5 million. On a scale of 1-10, Hugh and the J-Squad rank Kaash a solid 100!

Another good R&B/Hip-hop artist is Aaron May (by P.W.) - not to be confused with Chef Aaron May.

The rapper Aaron May was born in (2001) and raised in Houston, Texas. His path in music started in fifth grade, writing poems. He began making music when he was in middle school - using Soundcloud to drop his freestyles. In 2018, during his junior year of high school, he scored a viral hit with the single “Ride.” He dropped his debut mixtape, CHASE, in 2019. The hit song from the album is “Let Go” and has over 4.9M views.

This song also helped him draw comparisons to the artist J.cole.


“We all grow up taking inspiration from somebody,” said May in an interview with Complex Magazine.His biggest influences were Nas and J. Cole.

In addition to that, he is well-known for the popularity of his Instagram account, which focuses on lifestyle, fashion, and music-related material. Aaron May is still a growing artist trying to perfect his sound. “Music is not what I do. It is what I am,” says May. As of January 2023, May’s net worth is $5 Million.
