“Ross the Clutch Renfro and His Technicolor Taylormade!”
Imagine listening to Brian Johnson (lead singer for AC/DC) as he cranks out the lyrics to Thunder Struck. ‘You've been, Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah, Thunderstruck - Ooh, Thunderstruck, yeah!’ Anyone would be hard pressed to find a better live performance… Now imagine Ross Renfro singing it! Need a moment to visualize? ……………. Still with us? Incidentally, the word ‘thunder’ appears in the song 33 times according to former J-Squad member Herm Parker who googled it. Thanks Herm! At any rate, Ross feels that he is ‘lead singer legit.’ He admits that he always wanted to be a drummer but being in the spotlight as a singer is better. Now then, when Ross was a youngin, he lived in Sioux City. Little did lil’ Ross know that he would grow up to become the ‘Golden Voice of the Chiefs.’ When asked where he gets his inspiration with the mic he told us that he likes to be the voice of the people. ‘Rage Against the Machine said it best,’ stated Renfro. ‘I’m a microphone fiend.’When Ross got taller he became a Wolverine. No, not the guy from X-Men, we’re talking about becoming a Sioux City West Wolverine. While at West he participated in football, basketball, baseball, golf, student council, multicultural club and newspaper. Former J-Squad member Herm dat man Parker feels RR be cappin. And of course he was busy chasing the ladies … “Now Dats FACTS no CAP,” says Herm. It comes as no surprise to the J-Squad that Ross is a Sagittarius. So if you want to impress him, do something that expands his horizons as he seeks truth, knowledge, and new experiences. Ross has been working here at U-Nation for 8 years. Currently, he teaches 5th grade. He loves working with kids and watching them grow into great students! There are times when Renfro finds himself running a bit late for work. No worries, let’s just say that he is the Jeff Gordon of U-Nation. Obviously he has never seen Vogt drive. When Renfro isn’t teaching or drag racing, he can usually be found on the golf course….. Why? Because he has game! Renfro is simply dubbed “Clutch” by those who have seen him play. And then there’s the Boomstick. AKA his Taylormade M4 driver. Ross be bombing it off the tee with dat M4. In other words, he lets that puppy eat. Speaking of puppies, when Ross watches Marley and Me he cries. But then he watches American Pie and he feels better because AP teaches great lessons about growing up. When asked if he would rather team up with the dudes from Marvel or DC Renfro says DC because they have Superman, and he can crush anyone including the Hulk. There are no female movie stars that make Renfro’s heart flutter…. However, he believes that pigskin expert Kay Adams from the NFL Network is really smart. The battle of the Hawkeyes vs the Huskers is always going to be dem Hawks in Renfro’s eyes. Perhaps Darth Hamman is clouding his judgment? And did you know that Ross likes to remind Husker fans that NU hasn't beaten the Hawkeyes in eight years? Hey, the Huskers won the first three quarters this year! Now for the grand finale. We asked Double R’s the age-old question: What would he do if he found a penguin in his freezer? Ross had to put on his thinking cap for this one. While everyone is waiting for his answer Keela Cline says, “I would make some penguin soup.” Here is what Double R’s had to say: ‘First of all, Katie would freak out if there were a penguin in the freezer… More importantly, though, I’d like to keep it as a pet …. but then again, fileting, smoking, and frying would be good options too!” - Ross Renfro everybody!
