The Umóⁿhoⁿ Nation Cross Country Team traveled to Twin Creeks Golf course in Pender, Nebraska on October 13th for NSAA district competition. Our home boy Lakeyven Smith punched his ticket to state with an 8th place finish. Only runners
finishing 15th or better move on to the state meet. Smith covered the 3.1 mile course in 18 minutes and 40 seconds. The conditions were not easy as wind gusts reached 35mph during the race. Just look at dat boys flowing locks. Mrs. Pearson and Mrs. Hermelbracht took students to support the boys and hype them up.

In a statement obtained through Coach Vogt’s agent he had this to say about the race: I have to give a lot of the credit to coach Fehringer. He designed the game plan for today’s race and it was money. And of course Lakeyven had to execute.
Keithin Miller finished the race strong and with good sportsmanship. Miller’s time was 22 minutes and 53 seconds. Faster than Vogt used to run it but slower than Fehringer.
Lakeyven will run at the state meet next Friday in Kearney. The race will be held at the Kearney Country Club and will begin at 12:00 P.M.
