Cheerleading by Tiny McAlex and Ruckus Sams
Once again the Cheer squad was on site to cheer on our basketball squads. The team is led by the all mighty Slick Rick Sheridan and cheer alumni Shylee Bass. Our cheer captain Kacyn Harlan was named all tourney!! Deygo! Here are some quotes from our amazing coaches,”Our girls did their thang as usual, putting their hearts and souls into what they do,” said Shylee. “They made my first year as assistant coach one to remember and I'm always proud of them.”
Coach Sheridan had this to say, ”I think we all did an awesome job. We worked hard and did our best. The important thing is that we had fun as a team!” The squad also participated in a short halftime show choreographed by Ricky. This included the squads from other attending schools.
Boys Basketball
Game 1: by Saucy Flower
The mighty Chiefs faced the Flandreau Indians. Our boys played solid as we came away with the dub. Highlights included a sweet dunk by Caron… No, just kidding but he IS bounce. Keiyan tossed in 24 points while Keithin drained 19.
Game 2: by JoJo Johnson
In game two our Chiefs played the Crazy Horse Chiefs. It is safe to say that the Chiefs won the game! See what we did there?
Game 3: by K-Dubs
Umonhon Nation played the Marty Braves and lost. That’s all there is.
Girls Basketball
Game 1: by Honey Lazarus
In the opening game our Lady Chiefs grounded the Takini Skyhawks. See what we did there? The score was a whole bunch to a little bit (72-34). Highlights included 14 points by Tylisha, and 11 each for Sylvia and Latecia. Coach Hudnall showed mercy and took off the press early.
Game 2: by Coco McCharlies
We played the Marty Braves. Can we say rivalray? Nation came out with the dub as usual. Score (65-50). Mikkel came off the bench to lead the scoring with 15 points. Tylisha scored 11 points while Latecia and Kaelynne combined for 17. Mikkel was named player of the game and 3 point CHAMP.
Game 3: by D.L. Lie-N and T.J. Bloomfield
Omaha Nation v. Lower Brule: The Lady Chiefs came away with a hard fought 45-43 victory. Our girls fought hard and never gave up. They trusted each other and kept a good attitude til the end! A key moment occurred late in the game when Kaelynne splashed a runner in the lane. Next, Tylisha buried two free throws to ice the game. Just call them champs! Coach Double 1’s Hudnall was unavailable for a quote. Currently J-Squad member Jonny Walker is trying to track him down.
In the above picture coach Hudnall can be seen giving the double 1’s, a thumb, and a pinky. Good thing he put on his Old Spice! Or did he?
Not only did our Lady Chiefs win the tournament, we also won the award for the best sportsmanship! Can we say clean sweep?
But wait, there’s more! Kaelynne Wolfe and Sylvia Valentino got named All-Tournament team!
Since the DOC trip both the Chiefs and Lady Chiefs collected dubs vs Omaha Christian Academy. In both games the score was a lot to not enough. Boys 75-23. Girls 60-41. Our next game is February 6, vs Whiting. Sounds like another pair of victories! Go Chiefs and Lady Chiefs! Don’t forget to slam the like button!
