‘After Further Review’

a

Reflection on Homecoming Week

(by Caydence)

Another Homecoming has come and gone. With that being said, the J-Squad felt it appropriate to assess some of the week’s festivities. Let’s start with the hot wings at the dance. J-Squad member Chastin-1 ‘the Tank’ Cayou said, “They were just like Buffalo Wild Wings but they were really from Pizza Hut!” Quote of the year material right there folks! Chastin-2 would have liked a little more heat to the wings, however. Another positive activity was the balloon game at the dance. This is when two dancers have to hold a balloon between one another’s bodies without dat balloon dropping to the floor. Once again our own Chastin-3 Cayou shined. He teamed up with his good buddy Christian Parker to dominate the other would be balloon holders. Rumor has it that people are paying BIG money for bootleg footage of their performance. Another highlight was the Powder-Puff football game. This pitted the freshman/senior girls vs. the sophomores/junior girls. Coaches of the freshman/senior squad were Chastin-4 and Jason… while the sophomores/juniors were led by Keaton and Lil-T-Lighting Todd. The game came down to the last possession with the senior/freshman team winning 14-6. Coach Chastin-5 had this to say about his team. “I was really proud of the girls,” said Coach Chastin-6. “We made some half-time adjustments and Ellianna really took charge in the 2nd half.” Another fan favorite was the Golden Voice of announcer Ross Renfro as it rumbled across the plains. During the game, Renfro displayed his free lance abilities as he coined the names: Maleah the Machine Miller, Tanisha the Predator Parker, Kaelynne the Wolfe, Joylie the Cat Lovejoy, and Electric Ellianna. Obviously, Renfro is no stranger to alliteration! You go Boy! Chastin-7 is proud of you. Renfro’s play-by-play call reached a feverish pitch when Maleah the Machine had that sick one handed interception. He is still in disbelief. Another highlight of the week was the parade... complete with floats and flying candy. The freshman float had a sweet wooden boat. The sophomore float had a mad number of balloons. The junior float was decked out with a sick goalpost. “The goalpost was a last minute addition,” said class sponsor Jordan Hermelbracht who spent hours working on the float. “We were really sad when it fell down though.” The senior float was dedicated to the “all children matter,” theme and proved to be a crowd favorite. Overall, the J-Squad rated the week a 9.3 out of 10! It would have been even better if there had been more left over candy!
